Making a Difference
HOW RELEVANT ARE YOU?.....
At home? In your work place? In your local church?
In your neighbourhood? In your community? To your generation?
To the world at large?
Mathew 5:13-16 cautions us:
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
You have been equipped to do good works just like our Lord Jesus Christ...He went about doing good!
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him (Acts 10:38) There are numerous projects that you can help your borough/community with. You can commit your time to volunteering events organised by your establishment to reach out to the needy and poor in spirit.
Dorcas, the disciple also named Tabitha in Acts 9 was faithful to this calling:
Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and alms deeds which she did (Acts 9:36)
When she grew sick and died, she was greatly mourned. This moved Peter to pray to the God of heaven and her life was restored again!
James 1:27 records: "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world".
It’s time to get those priorities right:
Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you (Hosea 10:12)
You will then be on your way to making a remarkable difference!
