THE BEST GIFT TO LEAVE YOUR CHILD...by Nora Idem
By the World's standard, the best gift to leave your child will be an inheritance of wealth and various specific assets. Although that may be of benefit to the child, things do happen and the purpose of the gift is not accomplished.
What about leaving your child something that can never be taken away from him or her; something that cannot be physically seen; something that comes from within; and something that can never be stolen or snatched away from the child. - What about an inheritance of faith?
Proverbs 22:6 says "Train up a child in the way of the Lord and when he or she grows up he will not depart from it"
This is God’s promise for us and if He has said, it will come to pass.
We have many children rebelling against the faith who have had a Christian upbringing. Why do think this is? Most of the parents will tell you they have tried for years to bring the child in the way of the Lord.
Attention!!
Lets us stop struggling!
God has promised us that, As long as the earth remained, there is seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall not cease. Genesis 8:22
As parents, we need to apply this principle of seedtime and harvest. Once you plant a good seed, it will produce a good harvest. What goes into a child’s heart is what will come out. Accept the responsibility of guarding their hearts while they are young until when they can make their own decisions.
SOME WAYS YOU CAN PLANT GOOD SEEDS
- Take time to learn the word of God and also teach them to your children. Deuteronomy 6:5-7
- Be persistent; there are those times that you feel like giving up; you need to be persistent in your faith as your children are watching you.
- Be an example; Let them see the pattern of God in you. Let them copy the way Mummy and Daddy handle things.
- Praise and Pray always; Applaud them when they do things right! They will be more motivated in doing the right thing. Pray always for your children and God will not forsake them. Remember the Lord loves children.
With God on our side nothing and no man can stand against our children. Take time to plant these good seeds into your children and when they are old they will not depart from it.
AN INHERITANCE OF FAITH WILL GIVE THEM EVERYTHING THEY WILL NEED IN LIFE.
